Holiday Shorts

The Holiday Shorts. These shorts were spurred by a desire to escape to a better place, as winter and all that comes with it is in full force in my home state of Minnesota. I was thinking back on the feeling of wearing bright and vibrant summer clothes on past vacations and wanted to replicate that warm feeling in my own way. This was achieved with a hand tie-dye technique I have not attempted since middle school. Each of the 4 panels was hand-dyed consistently to keep a similar center of focus throughout the shorts. Traditionally, I would see tie-dye pieces done on solid fabrics, so I thought using plaid fabric would be an interesting idea. This way, each check would interact with the dye differently, creating harmony and contrast. This piece is finished with raw hems to allow for fraying over time.
