Mini Basket Bag (Indigo Blue)

A limited-edition design handmade in collaboration with Magdaleno and Hacer Común in Oaxaca, Mexico. The idea was a mini version of a big market tote. This handwoven straw bag has hard circular shoulder straps, and a vegan leather & real pearl beaded abacaxi monogram charm. The removable charm accessory can also be taken off the bag and used as a keychain or other adornment.
Magdaleno’s process goes way beyond weaving the bag. After harvesting and treating the straw, picked in the land surrounding his mountaintop studio, he dyed, braided, and meticulously sewed each strand into this shape. This type of basket-weaving is done by braiding 3 strands and sewing the braids continuously in a circular fashion.
