The Blossoms Button-Down. This shirt was inspired by spring and the idea of life becoming anew. I have not previously made anything in pink, but after seeing a climbing rose bush blooming in my yard, I knew I had to replicate the color. The primary design detail of this shirt is the dual extended sashes, which serve a functional and aesthetic purpose. The sashes are intended to resemble branches of a cherry blossom tree as they sway and bend in the wind. Functionally, the sashes feature exposed front pockets and a modular hidden pocket, which can be buttoned against the shirt or worn freely. Patterned as a standard button-down shirt, this piece also features a collar, front button closure, double back yoke, and sleeve plackets. The side seams were finished with a high split Hong Kong seam to amplify the feeling of ease and comfort when worn on the body.
